Marmalead Alternative: 4 Options Compared (September 2026)
September 18, 2026
Marmalead alternative searches usually come from one of two moments: you reached the signup page, saw a single plan at $19 a month with no free tier and no trial to test it against, and hesitated, or you paid, and are now checking whether $190 a year is still the right spend. Both are fair questions, and the honest answer is that Marmalead is a good tool for one specific kind of seller: an established shop that already knows it wants MarmaMeters, letter-graded listings and the Storm brainstorming engine, and would rather pay for the year (or the one-time $300 lifetime licence) than start small.
For everyone else (sellers still validating products, shops that want to try before they pay, and anyone whose real bottleneck is writing listings rather than researching keywords) there are alternatives that fit better. This article reads Marmalead’s own pricing page and its rivals’ pages, compares what each does as of September 2026, and separates the seller who should stay with Marmalead from the seller who should not have started there.
Every figure about Marmalead, eRank, EverBee, Alura and Sale Samurai below was read from each company’s own pricing page in September 2026. These change; open the page before you subscribe.

What Marmalead actually is
Marmalead’s home page leads with “Marma AI Knows Your Shop - And Your Customers” and describes the product through three stages: Brainstorm, Analyze, Apply. Brainstorm is the Storm tool (“Enter a keyword, and the Storm tool delivers a list of suggestions”, scored with the MarmaMeters), plus popular and similar searches. Analyze adds what Marmalead claims makes it different: “actual” keyword demand figures taken from real Etsy searches, engagement measured on listing views, keyword seasonality over a year, and a three-month forecast. Apply is where it grades your listings: letter grades, SEO factors (“Keyword Searches, Keyword Engagement, Long Tail Keywords, Tags Used, Title”) and sales factors like photo count and description length.
The newer layer is Marma, its AI shop coach, which the home page says “gives you instant, personalized answers using your stats and real Etsy market data. From writing titles and tags to breaking down keyword trends”.
On price, Marmalead is unusual: one plan, four ways to pay for it. As of September 2026 the pricing page lists $19/month, $53 quarterly (“Save $16 or 7%”, effectively $18/month), $190 annually (“Save $38 or 16%”, effectively $16/month), and a $300 one-time lifetime licence, framed as “Pay once, save $840 (73%) over 5 years”. Everything is on every plan, so there are no caps to reason about, but there is also no way in without paying.
Marmalead is better for: the established seller who has already decided keyword research matters to their shop and wants it bundled with listing feedback and forecasting in one bill, and who would rather pay once. If you expect to sell on Etsy for years, $300 once is less than two years of most rivals’ monthly plans.
The trade-off: you cannot try it for nothing. There is no free plan and no free trial on the pricing page, which is a real barrier when eRank’s free plan sits right there and Alura’s is just as free. And the writing half is narrower than the research half: Marma will suggest titles and tags, and the home page now advertises AI Authoring that will “craft and enhance your listings”, though the pricing page still lists the AI as a description critique plus generated FAQs. The workflow is research-first, not listing-first.
If you want the free trial Marmalead doesn’t offer: eRank
eRank is the cheapest way to run the same job. Its keyword research, listing audits, shop health and competitor tracking cover Marmalead’s Analyze and Apply stages, and its free plan never expires: five keyword lookups, five listing audits and one AI Listing Helper use per day, one shop and 50 listings, resetting daily.
When you outgrow it, Basic is $5.99/month ($65.99/year) with 100 keyword lookups a day and five monitored competitors, Pro is $9.99 ($94.99/year, 200 lookups, 50 competitors) and Expert is $29.99 ($269.99/year, 500 lookups, 200 competitors). What money buys at eRank is allowance, not features.
What eRank does not have from Marmalead’s set: letter grades, the seasonality forecast, and the one-time purchase. What it has that Marmalead does not: a free tier you can run a whole small shop on, indefinitely.
Pick eRank if you are cost-sensitive, you work a little every day (its daily resets suit that), or you simply want to test whether keyword research changes your results before committing $190 a year to it.
If you want the depth Marmalead charges for, free: Alura
Alura is the odd one here because it is not a narrower tool: it is a broader one. Its pricing page lists research, marketing, optimization, operations and analytics categories: keyword, product and competitor research, Pinterest pins, Etsy ads management, email marketing, A/B tests, customer follow-ups and an AI support assistant.
As of September 2026 the plans are Free ($0, “5 daily keyword & product searches”, AI listing optimisation for about 20 listings, the Chrome extension), Basic $7.99/mo (50 daily keyword and product searches, about 40 listings a month, 2,000 AI credits a month), Growth $14.99/mo (“Higher usage limits”, 4 active A/B tests, 15 Pinterest pins a day) and Professional $29.99/mo (unlimited usage, multiple shops, CSV export, 20 A/B tests).
Pick Alura if you want research and the shop tools around it (email, reviews, Pinterest) in one subscription. Collapsing three bills into $14.99 is a real saving. Stay with Marmalead if those extras sound like clutter: Marmalead does one thing with unusual focus, and its grading and forecasting are more opinionated than anything in Alura’s bundle.
If you decide by revenue numbers: EverBee
EverBee answers a different question, and it is worth being clear about it: not “what do people search for” but “what is already selling”. Its Chrome extension shows sales and revenue figures on the Etsy listings you browse, with product analytics, trends and growth rates on the paid tiers. As of September 2026 the Hobby plan is free (10 keyword searches, basic product analytics), Growth is $24.99/month billed annually ($299/year) and Business is $69/month billed annually ($828/year).
Marmalead does not show per-listing revenue at all. If your bottleneck is deciding what to make next (validating a niche before you spend an evening on it), EverBee does that job and Marmalead does not, at any price.
Pick EverBee if product validation is the bottleneck. Stay with Marmalead if you have already found what sells and the job is ranking it.
If you like Marmalead’s idea but want to work inside Etsy: Sale Samurai
Sale Samurai is the closest workflow match: Etsy keyword and competition data, delivered on the Etsy page you are browsing through a Chrome extension (Chrome, Edge and Brave), with keyword research, a Shop Analyzer, a Competition Tracker and an A/B Listing Tester for checking whether a change actually helped. Its Listing Creator writes titles, descriptions and all 13 tags.
As of September 2026 it has one paid plan, $19.99/month or $199.90/year (billed as $16.65/month, “Two months free, every year”), no free plan on the page as of October 2026, and a 3-day trial with full access and no card.
Pick Sale Samurai if you prefer researching on Etsy itself rather than in a dashboard, or you want the A/B tester nobody else here has. At $19.99 you are paying about what Marmalead charges for a different interface plus the tester; the 3-day card-free trial is the only risk-free way to compare the two, which Marmalead does not offer.
The honest check before you switch: what is your bottleneck?
Switching keyword tools only helps if keyword research is where your hours go. Two of Marmalead’s rivals are cheaper; none of them makes your listing write itself.
It is worth naming what most of these tools actually deliver: a screen full of keywords, scores and competitor data. The next step (turning your product notes into a title that fits Etsy’s 140-character limit, exactly 13 tags each within the 20-character limit, and a description that opens with what the item is) is still typing. Marmalead grades the listings you wrote; eRank’s AI Listing Helper and Sale Samurai’s Listing Creator meter that step inside a research subscription; EverBee and Alura leave it to you.
If the writing is your bottleneck (a new collection, a catalogue refresh, or a Shopify store alongside your Etsy shop), that is the job ListingBrief AI is built for. It is not a research tool and it does not show sales figures. What it does:
- Writes the whole listing from your notes: an Etsy title within the 140-character limit, exactly 13 tags each within Etsy’s 20-character limit, and a description that opens with what the item is.
- Checks it against Etsy’s published limits: title length, tag count, tag length and description structure, plus notes on repeated words, subjective wording and price or shipping language in the title.
- Works inside the listing form: a Chrome extension panel in the Etsy Shop Manager and Shopify product editors, filling the fields you already have open.
- Handles batches: paste one product per line and generate a listing for each, then export to CSV.
Pricing is simple: five free generations a day (no card needed), then Pro at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year for unlimited generation under fair use. That is less than Marmalead’s monthly price, and you can try it before paying anything, which is the thing Marmalead’s pricing page does not let you do.
A reasonable setup for many shops: run eRank’s free plan for keyword research, and let ListingBrief write the listings from what you learned. You can test the writing half on its own first with the free Etsy title generator and Etsy tag generator.
How to switch from Marmalead
Marmalead holds none of your listings (they live on Etsy), so leaving costs you saved keyword lists and your grading history, not your shop.
- Note what you rely on. Any Storm lists or saved keywords you still use; copy them out before your subscription lapses.
- Keep the listing, drop the grade. Your listings themselves do not change when you leave. If you used the letter grades to fix them, you are keeping the fixes.
- Start the replacement’s free tier for a full week first. eRank’s free plan and Alura’s free plan both have no time limit, so there is nothing to cancel. A week of real use tells you more than any comparison, including this one.
- If you were mid-lifetime-plan, you paid once: let it run. The $300 licence has no recurring cost, and there is no cheaper way to keep Marmalead’s grading.
If you do rewrite listings after a switch, two guides help: how to write an Etsy title in 2026 and how to use all 13 Etsy tags.
The short verdict
Marmalead is not a bad tool: it is a narrow offer. Stay with it if you are an established seller already bought into MarmaMeters, the letter grades and the forecasting, and especially if you hold the $300 lifetime licence. Leave it for eRank if the $19 wall stopped you and you want the same job cheaper, or free. Leave it for Alura if you want research plus the shop tools around it in one bill. Leave it for EverBee if your question is what sells, not what people search. And if the truth is that research has never been your bottleneck (you know your keywords, and the hours go into writing the listings), none of these tools is aimed at you, which is the gap ListingBrief AI fills.
