AI Etsy Listing Generator: Title, Tags and Description
October 4, 2026
An AI Etsy listing generator turns your notes about an item into the three pieces of text every listing needs: a title, 13 tags and a description. The good ones keep the title inside Etsy’s 140 characters, give you 13 tags of 20 characters or fewer, and write a description that opens with what the item is. The output is only as accurate as the facts you feed it, so the real work is in the notes you write first and the two-minute check you do after. This guide covers what a generator should hand back, what to give it, a checklist for its output, the options you can use today, and when writing by hand is still the better call.
The rule that matters most: a generator can only describe what you told it. If your notes do not say the mug holds 12 oz, the listing will either leave it out or guess, and a guess is worse.
What an AI Etsy listing generator should give you
A listing is three pieces of text, and each has its own job and its own limits. A generator that returns one long paragraph has done a third of the work.
| Field | What Etsy allows | What the field has to do |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Up to 140 characters | Name the item once in buyer words, then its key traits |
| Tags | 13 tags, up to 20 characters each | Cover the different ways a buyer describes the item |
| Description | No practical length limit | Open with what it is, then the details buyers check |
The limits come from Etsy’s listing form and they are hard limits: the form will not save a 21-character tag. A generator worth using respects them without you counting.
Beyond the limits, look for three things in the output:
- A title that leads with the item. “Ceramic coffee mug, speckled white, 12 oz” tells a shopper scanning a grid what they are looking at. A run of adjectives does not. Our guide on how to write an Etsy title in 2026 goes deeper.
- Tags that are different from each other. Thirteen tags that all say “coffee mug” in slightly different orders waste twelve slots. Good tags cover the material, the use, the recipient, the style and the occasion. See how to use all 13 Etsy tags.
- A description that answers questions. Size, material, care, personalisation, what is in the box, and processing time. Buyers read the first lines in the search snippet and the rest when they are close to buying.
What to feed the generator
The notes are the only source of truth the generator has. Write them the way you would brief a helper who has never seen the item.
- What it is, in plain words. “Hand-thrown ceramic mug” rather than “a beautiful piece”.
- Objective traits. Colour, material, size, capacity, weight, finish. Numbers with units.
- Who it is for and when. A gift for a coffee lover, a wedding favour, a teacher’s desk.
- What makes it different. Hand-painted, made to order, personalised with a name.
- The practical details. Care instructions, what ships in the package, any variation between items.
A good set of notes is five to ten short lines. You do not need to write sentences, and you should not try to write the listing yourself in the notes. Facts in, wording out.
Leave out what you cannot promise. If you are unsure whether the glaze is food safe, do not write “food safe” in the notes. The generator will repeat it with confidence.
How to use an AI Etsy listing generator, start to finish
Whichever tool you pick, the routine is the same.
- Write the notes for one item, using the list above.
- Pick a tone if the tool offers one. A handmade jewellery shop and a printable planner shop should not sound the same.
- Generate the title, tags and description.
- Check the output against the checklist in the next section. This takes a minute or two per listing.
- Fix what is wrong by editing the text directly, or by adding the missing fact to your notes and generating again.
- Paste it into Etsy, or fill it in from inside the listing form if your tool works there.
- Save as a draft first and look at the listing preview before you publish.
For a single listing, the whole routine takes a few minutes. The time it saves grows with the number of listings, because the notes for a product family are mostly the same and the wording is the part that takes longest by hand.
A checklist for the output
Read every generated listing before it goes live. These are the checks that catch nearly every problem:
- Every fact is one you gave it. Any size, material or claim you did not supply gets deleted or confirmed.
- The title names the item in the first few words and does not repeat the same word three times.
- There are exactly 13 tags, each 20 characters or fewer, and no two say the same thing.
- No subjective filler like “perfect”, “best” or “stunning” in the title. Shoppers skim past it.
- No price, discount or shipping promise in the title or tags. Those belong in their own fields and go stale.
- The description’s first line says what the item is, because that line often appears in search results.
- The tone matches the rest of your shop, so a buyer browsing your listings does not hear three different voices.
If you find yourself fixing the same problem on every listing, change your notes rather than your edits. A missing size is a notes problem.
The options compared
There are four common ways to get an AI-written Etsy listing today. They differ mostly in whether listing text is the main job or a side feature, and in how many listings you can generate before you hit a limit. Figures below were read from each vendor’s own pricing page as of October 2026.
| Option | What it writes | Free allowance | Paid entry point |
|---|---|---|---|
| ListingBrief AI | Title, 13 tags, description, materials | 5 listings a day | $9.99/mo, unlimited under fair use |
| eRank AI Listing Helper | Titles, tags and descriptions | 1 use a day | $5.99/mo Basic, 10 uses a day |
| Alura AI credits | Titles, descriptions, customer replies from templates | 1,000 one-time starter credits | Basic plan, 2,000 a month |
| EverBee AI Actions | AI actions inside its research tool | None listed on Hobby | Growth, $39/mo ($24.99/mo billed annually), 100 a month |
| ChatGPT | Whatever you prompt for | Depends on your ChatGPT plan | Depends on your ChatGPT plan |
ListingBrief AI
ListingBrief AI is built for the listing text itself. You paste your notes, choose one of five tones (Default, Simple, Premium, Handmade or Playful), and get a title, 13 tags and a description, along with the materials and specs it pulled out of your notes. A validator checks title length, tag count, tag length and description structure against Etsy’s published limits, and flags repeated words, subjective wording and price or shipping language in the title.
Two things matter if you list a lot. Bulk generation takes a list of products, one per line, and works through the whole batch. And the Chrome extension puts the generator inside Etsy’s own listing editor, so the fields go straight into the form you already have open. CSV export is there for keeping drafts or sharing them with a helper.
The free plan gives 5 generations a day with no credit card, refreshed at midnight UTC. Pro is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year with no per-listing count. You can start from the dashboard or try the free Etsy title generator and Etsy tag generator without an account.
Best for: sellers who list often and want the listing text done, checked and filled in, without paying for a research suite.
eRank AI Listing Helper
eRank is a keyword research and shop analytics tool first. Its AI Listing Helper is described on eRank’s pricing page as:
Generate optimized titles, tags and descriptions
and it pairs that with eRank’s keyword and competition data. As of October 2026 the free plan includes 1 AI Listing Helper use a day, Basic ($5.99/mo) includes 10, Pro ($9.99/mo) includes 20 and Expert ($29.99/mo) includes 100.
Best for: sellers who already use eRank for keyword research and want suggestions informed by that data. Our eRank review covers the rest of the tool.
Alura AI credits
Alura’s AI feature uses a collection of AI templates to generate listing titles, descriptions and customer replies. As of October 2026 the Basic plan lists 2,000 AI credits a month, and the free plan includes a one-time 1,000 starter credits. Alura is mainly a research, listing optimisation and marketing suite, with Pinterest pinning, A/B tests and email tools alongside.
Best for: sellers who want one subscription covering research, marketing and some AI writing. See our Alura review.
EverBee AI Actions
EverBee is a product and keyword research tool. As of October 2026 its Growth plan ($39 a month paid monthly, or $299 a year, which works out to $24.99 a month) includes 100 AI actions a month and Business includes unlimited actions. The free Hobby plan does not list AI actions. The writing here is a feature inside a research product rather than the product’s main job.
Best for: sellers choosing a research tool first, for whom AI writing is a bonus. Our EverBee review has the plan detail.
ChatGPT
A general chatbot can write a listing if you give it a careful prompt and the limits. It will not count your tag characters for you reliably, and it does not know Etsy’s rules unless you paste them in each time. It works well for one-off listings when you already pay for it. Our guide to ChatGPT for Etsy listings has prompts and the checks to run on what it returns.
Best for: occasional listings, and sellers comfortable editing the output by hand.
Generating listings in bulk
The biggest gain from an AI listing generator comes when you have many listings to write: a new product line, a seasonal drop, or a refresh of old listings that never sold. Three habits make bulk generation work:
- Write notes from a shared base. A product family shares most of its facts. Copy the base notes and change only what differs: colour, size, design name.
- Generate the batch in one pass, then review every listing. Bulk output still needs the checklist above, one listing at a time.
- Keep identical changes for Etsy’s own bulk edit. If every listing needs the same shipping profile or the same section, Etsy’s Listings Manager does that for free.
Our guide to bulk listing on Etsy walks through the whole batch routine, including the template-listing trick for creating many drafts quickly.
When writing by hand is enough
An AI listing generator is a time saver. It is not a requirement, and there are cases where the manual way is better:
- You list a handful of items a month. A careful hand-written listing, using our Etsy listing template, takes a little longer and costs nothing.
- The item is one of a kind and the story is the point. An heirloom restoration or a commissioned painting sells on details only you know. Write it yourself.
- You enjoy the writing. Some sellers find it the best part of listing. Keep doing it, and use a validator or checklist to catch the limits.
If you do write by hand, the checklist above still applies. The limits and the buyer’s questions are the same whoever writes the words.
Frequently asked questions
Does Etsy allow AI-written listings?
Etsy’s rules are about what a listing says and what the item is, and the listing has to describe the item accurately. Who drafted the words does not change that. Check every fact before you publish, because you are responsible for the listing either way.
Will an AI-written listing rank better?
Ranking on Etsy depends on many things beyond the text, including how well the listing matches what shoppers type, how it performs once shown, and your shop’s history. A generator helps you fill every field well and use all 13 tags. It cannot promise a ranking.
Can I use the same generator for Shopify?
Some can. ListingBrief AI also writes Shopify product titles, SEO titles and meta descriptions, and its Chrome extension works in the Shopify admin product editor as well as Etsy’s. Our guide to writing Shopify product descriptions covers what differs between the two.
