Sale Samurai vs eRank: Which One Fits Your Shop?

Sale Samurai vs eRank is usually settled by two facts rather than by a feature list: eRank has a free plan with no time limit that resets every day, and Sale Samurai costs $19.99 a month against eRank’s $5.99. If budget is the constraint, eRank wins and it is not close. Sale Samurai earns its price in one specific case: you want research on the Etsy page you are already looking at, and you want an A/B test to tell you whether a change did anything, which eRank does not offer.

Both are Etsy research tools. Both now also generate listing copy as a side feature, metered by plan. Below: what each is built around, the current plans, who should stay with which, two claims from older comparisons that are no longer true, and the step both of them stop short of.

Every plan, price and limit below was read from each company’s own pricing page in September 2026. These change; open the page before you subscribe.

What Sale Samurai is built for

Sale Samurai’s home page leads with “Sell more on Etsy without the guesswork” and describes itself as:

the all-in-one Etsy SEO platform and free Chrome extension

The emphasis on the extension is the real difference. Its six named tools are the Chrome extension, Keyword Research, an A/B Listing Tester, a Listing Creator, a Shop Analyzer and a Competition Tracker. The extension is where most of the work happens. It puts keyword demand figures, low-competition niches and the tags and titles that top listings are using onto the Etsy page you are browsing, on Chrome, Edge or Brave. You research while you shop, rather than in a second tab.

The A/B Listing Tester is the piece with no eRank counterpart. Every research tool tells you what to change; only a test tells you whether the change helped. If you have been rewriting listings for months on instinct, that is worth something on its own.

Pricing is refreshingly short. One paid plan: $19.99 a month, or $199.90 a year, billed as $16.65 a month, described on the page as “Two months free, every year”. There is no free plan on the page as of October 2026, so the way in without paying is the trial. Every plan carries a 3-day free trial with “full access to all features”, no credit card to sign up, and “Cancel anytime during or after the trial”.

Sale Samurai is better for: sellers who do their research on Etsy itself rather than in a dashboard, and anyone who wants to A/B test listing changes instead of guessing.

The trade-off: there is no free tier to stay on. Three days of full access is enough to judge the extension, and then you pay or leave. At $19.99, you are paying roughly three times eRank’s Basic plan for a narrower toolset.

What eRank is built for

eRank’s home page opens with “Welcome to eRank, Your Ultimate Etsy Success Tool” and names six things: Keyword Research (“Find global keywords for your niche”), Competitor Analysis, Trend Tracking, Shop Health, a Chrome Extension that gathers “keywords, trends, and data directly on Etsy”, and Listing Optimization.

It is broader, and it is cheaper. The thing that matters most in a head-to-head is the shape of the free plan: eRank’s limits are daily and they reset. Five keyword lookups and five listing audits every day, one AI Listing Helper use every day, one connected shop and 50 listings, indefinitely, with no trial clock. A seller working on one listing at a time can run a whole shop on that.

Here is what each paid tier buys, as of September 2026:

Plan Price Keyword lookups/day Listing audits/day AI Listing Helper/day Competitors
Free $0 5 5 1 1
Basic $5.99/mo ($65.99/yr) 100 50 10 5
Pro $9.99/mo ($94.99/yr) 200 200 20 50
Expert $29.99/mo ($269.99/yr) 500 500 100 200

What money buys at eRank is allowance, not features. Nearly everything is on every tier; the paid plans raise the ceiling on how much of it you can do in a day.

eRank is better for: anyone on a budget, anyone who wants listing audits and shop health alongside keyword data, and anyone researching across more than Etsy alone.

The trade-off: eRank is data-dense and it hands you readings rather than decisions. There is no A/B test to close the loop, and turning an audit into a rewritten listing is still your afternoon.

Who should stay with which

Two things older comparisons get wrong

Comparison posts about these two tools age badly, and two claims in particular are still circulating:

Check both pricing pages yourself before you decide. Every number in this article is dated for exactly that reason.

What both of them stop short of

Here is the thing a feature table hides. Both tools will now write your listing, and in both cases it is a metered extra inside a research subscription. eRank’s AI Listing Helper gives you one use a day free and 10 on Basic. Sale Samurai’s Listing Creator will “auto-generate titles and descriptions” and “fill all 13 Etsy tags” from your keywords, on a paid plan.

That is fine if research is your bottleneck and the copy is a bonus. It is a bad deal the other way round. Plenty of sellers already know exactly what they make and who buys it. They have the keywords, they have done the research, and the thing that takes the evening is writing a 140-character title that reads like a product and not a keyword pile, filling all 13 tag slots with distinct phrases instead of one keyword repeated five ways, and writing a description a buyer will actually finish. For that seller, a $19.99 research subscription is a large bill for a copy quota.

That is the job this site is built around, and you can try it without an account:

No sign-up for those three. If you want full listings, signing in gives you 5 free generations a day with no card, and Pro is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year with no credit counter and no per-listing charge. What it does not do is keyword research, sales estimates or competitor tracking. If you need those, you need one of the two tools above, and this sits beside it rather than replacing it.

The short version

If you are choosing on price, eRank. If you are choosing on workflow (research where you browse, and a test that tells you whether the rewrite worked), Sale Samurai. If you are choosing because listings take you all evening to write, neither one is aimed at that, and our free tools will show you in a couple of minutes whether the writing half is really your problem.
