How to List Printify Products on Etsy, Step by Step

To list Printify products on Etsy, connect your Etsy shop to Printify once (Printify dashboard, Manage my stores, Connect, choose Etsy, then Grant access on Etsy), design a product in Printify, and click Publish to Etsy. The listing appears in your shop within minutes, and Printify handles printing and shipping when an order arrives. That part is quick. The part that decides whether anyone finds the listing is what happens next: replacing the stock title, description and tags with words a buyer would actually search. Most of this guide is about that.

This walkthrough follows Printify’s own instructions as of September 2026. Printify changes its dashboard now and then, so if a button has moved, the order of the steps still holds.

What you need before you start

Step 1: Connect your Etsy shop to Printify

As of September 2026, Printify’s Etsy page lists the connection as five actions:

  1. Sign up for Printify and open the dashboard.
  2. Open Manage my stores and click Connect.
  3. Select Etsy from the list of sales channels.
  4. Sign in to Etsy and click Grant access.
  5. Your shop is now connected.

You only do this once per shop. If you later change your Etsy password, the connection expires and Printify shows a Reconnect button. Click it and grant access again.

Step 2: Add Printify as a production partner on Etsy

Etsy asks sellers to disclose who helps make their items. Printify’s guide to posting on Etsy spells out where:

“In your Etsy shop, go to Shop Manager → Settings → Production partners → Add a new production partner”

Enter Printify as the partner, save it, and then apply it to every listing Printify fulfils. Skipping this does not stop a listing from publishing, but it leaves the listing out of line with Etsy’s rules for items you did not make by hand, and that is a risk to the shop rather than to one listing.

Step 3: Create the product and set your price

Pick a product in Printify’s catalog, choose a print provider, place your design and select the variants (sizes, colors) you want to sell. Set your retail price with the full cost in view: Printify’s product and shipping cost, plus Etsy’s fees.

Etsy charges $0.20 to list an item, and Printify’s guide notes the listing stays active for four months or until it sells. Etsy also takes transaction and payment processing fees on each sale. Check Etsy’s current fee page before you price, because a margin that looks fine before fees can vanish after them.

Printify generates shipping profiles per listing from the print provider you chose. You can review them in the Printify dashboard.

Step 4: Publish to Etsy

Click Publish to Etsy. Printify creates the listing in your shop with its mockup photos, variants, price and a pre-written title and description. You can publish straight away, but read the next section first, because publishing the stock copy unchanged is where most Printify listings go quiet.

Which edits belong where

After publishing, some fields live in Etsy and some in Printify. Printify’s guide is clear on the split:

Field Edit it in Why
Title Etsy listing editor (or Printify before publishing) Etsy search reads it
Description Etsy listing editor (or Printify before publishing) Buyers read it
Tags Etsy listing editor Etsy search reads them
Photos Etsy listing editor Your own photos beat stock mockups
Price Printify dashboard Changes made on Etsy do not sync back
Variants Printify dashboard Changes made on Etsy do not sync back

Change price and variants only in Printify, or the two systems disagree about what you sell and what it costs.

Step 5: Replace the stock title, tags and description

Printify’s copy is written for the product, not for your design. Every seller who publishes the same blank tee gets similar words, so a listing that keeps them looks like thousands of others in search. Etsy ranks a listing partly on how well its title and tags match what a buyer typed, so this is the step to spend your time on.

The title

Etsy allows up to 140 characters. Lead with what the item is and the design, in the words a buyer would search: “Retro Sunset Mountain T-Shirt, Unisex Hiking Tee” says more than a product code or the blank’s brand name. Put the most important words in the first 40 or so characters, since that is what shows on a phone. Our guide to writing an Etsy title in 2026 goes through this in detail.

The tags

You get 13 tags of up to 20 characters each. Use all of them. Mix the design (“retro sunset”), the product (“hiking t shirt”), the buyer (“gift for hiker”) and the occasion (“camping trip gift”). Avoid repeating the category Etsy already knows. The complete guide to Etsy tags covers the rules.

The description

Printify’s description usually lists fabric, fit and care. Keep that, and put it lower down. Start with what the buyer needs first: what the design shows, who it suits, and how the sizing runs. For a print on demand item, say plainly that it is made to order and when it ships, because a buyer who expects a same-day dispatch will be disappointed otherwise. There is more on structure in how to write Etsy product descriptions.

The faster way when you list a lot of designs

Print on demand shops tend to list many designs on the same few blanks, and rewriting three fields by hand for each one is the slow part. You have a few options:

Approach Good for What it costs you
Write each listing by hand A handful of designs Time per listing
A fill-in template Many designs on one blank Still hand-tuned tags
A chat assistant Occasional drafts Checking limits and rules yourself
ListingBrief AI Many designs, recurring refreshes A few notes per design

With ListingBrief AI you write a few rough notes about the design (what it shows, the product, who it is for) and it drafts an Etsy title inside the 140-character limit, a full set of 13 tags and a description. The free Chrome extension can fill the Etsy listing form in place, so you can open the listing Printify created and replace the stock copy without leaving the editor. Every account gets five free generations a day, which is enough to try it on a few Printify listings. If you would rather start from a blank page, the free Etsy title generator and Etsy tag generator do one field each.

Whatever you use, read the result before you publish. You know your design and your buyer; a draft is a starting point.

When the manual way is enough

The Etsy listing template is a good middle ground: a fill-in structure you reuse for every design.

Why a Printify listing will not publish

The common causes, from Printify’s own guidance:

If none of these apply, Printify’s help center has an article on publishing failures and its support team can see the error on their side.

After it is live

A published listing is a start. Check the listing’s views in Etsy’s stats after a couple of weeks. A listing with views and no sales usually needs better photos or a clearer price; one with no views usually needs a better title and tags. Our guide to getting more views on Etsy walks through telling the two apart. Replace the stock mockups with your own photos when you can, since a real photo helps a buyer trust a made-to-order item.

Quick checklist

  1. Etsy shop live, fixed-price shipping profile ready.
  2. Etsy connected to Printify with Grant access.
  3. Printify added as a production partner and applied to the listing.
  4. Price set with Printify’s costs and Etsy’s fees included.
  5. Published with Publish to Etsy.
  6. Title, 13 tags and description rewritten for your design.
  7. Price and variant changes made only in Printify.

The Etsy listing checklist covers the rest of the listing fields if you want to go through every one.
